Supply Logistics Manager

What has been your Lactalis Group career path so far ?

I trained as an Agricultural Engineer and joined the company in 2001 as a Dairy Relations Officer, a position which I held for 4 years. I have recently moved on to become Milk Supply Logistics Manager.

Could you describe the tasks that make up the job ?

My main objective is to reduce the cost of milk collection, while respecting the needs of production sites, the specifications and all the regulations that are relevant to our raw material. In order to achieve this, I have optimised the collection rounds of our collection lorries. It is a considerable challenge, because Lactalis has 280 lorries that go more than twice the distance round the world every day and there is a workforce of 800 drivers involved in collection. I don't manage this team on my own, of course : the Group has a Logistics Manager for each milk supply pool.

And according to you, which skills does a good Logistics Manager need ?

He must have an affinity for the field and be very responsive. Every day is different, make no mistake about it. The organisation of a day can change radically because of constraints linked to the volumes of milk produced, the transport or simply to meet the needs of our various sites.
In addition, as a professional in the transport field, the job evolves very quickly and requires increasingly sophisticated computer skills, not to mention organisation, enjoying managing a team of milk drivers and an in-depth knowledge of milk (what it is made of, quality, food safety etc.).

And the future?

Pool Manager, of course, to continue my exciting career path within the dairy sector.
